Georgia CPA CPE requirements
All CPAs must complete 80 hours of CPE during each two-year reporting period. To fully comply with Georgia CPE requirements, you must also ensure you meet the following:
- 50 percent of your 80 hours must be in technical fields of study
- Complete a minimum of 20 hours per year—meaning you can't complete 80 hours in one year and not complete any in the other year.
- Complete a minimum of four ethics CPE credits, including one credit specific to the Georgia Board's laws, rules, and policies
Becker's CPE course, Georgia Ethics, meets the one-hour requirement of Georgia laws, rules, and policies. To meet the other three hours, we recommend Ethics, Integrity, and the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct.
- Up to 15 non-technical CPE credits may be carried over into the next CPE reporting period, but no technical CPE can carry over.
- Technical fields include accounting, auditing, business law, economics, finance, IT, regulatory ethics, statistics, and taxes.
- Non-technical fields include behavioral ethics, business management and organization, communications, computer software and applications, personal development, marketing, and human resources.
New CPAs who are licensed for one year but less than two years before the renewal date must complete 40 hours of CPE credit with at least 20 of those hours coming from technical fields of study.

Tips to meet your Georgia CPA CPE requirements
If you find it difficult to meet your Georgia CPE requirements, we're sharing tips that should make it a bit easier!
Find CPE that is flexible to your lifestyle
The biggest hurdle to earning CPE is finding the time for it after meeting your work and personal responsibilities. Fortunately, Georgia doesn't have limits on how much CPE you can earn through self-study, so you may find it easier to take on-demand courses or listen to CPE podcasts so you can fit learning into your lifestyle.
Keep up with your progress
It's not easy to remember how many hours you've completed, how much you have left, and if you've met Georgia's ethics and technical requirements. Using Becker's CPE Compliance Tracker, all your CPE is in one place, and you can even import documents from other sources. This lets you see your progress, what you need, and get recommendations for courses all in one convenient dashboard.
Pace yourself
Don't try to earn 60 hours of CPE right before your deadline! Instead, make sure to block out time each month—we recommend about four each month. This will give you a cushion if you miss a month for busy season or vacation.
Take courses that interest you
Meeting your Georgia CPE requirements shouldn't be a hassle or a box to check. It can be an opportunity to take classes in topics that interest you or support your career. For example, if you want to learn more about real estate accounting or international taxation, Becker has courses in those topics. Take time to think about what you want and then choose the CPE that best matches up with that!
