Florida CPA CPE requirements
After earning your CPA license, you will have to renew it periodically and complete continuing professional education (CPE). Each state has different requirements and specifications; we’re outlining the Florida CPA CPE requirements to help you get the courses you need to stay in compliance and ensure your hard work doesn’t go to waste.
Florida CPE requirements
All Florida CPAs are required to complete 80 hours of CPE credits each two-year renewal cycle. Regarding these 80 hours, you must also meet the following CPA CPE requirements:
- Ethics: You must complete at least four credit hours of ethics CPE approved by the Florida State Board of Accountancy. If your ethics CPE course is not approved by the Florida State Board of Accountancy, it will not be accepted as valid CPE credit.
- Accounting and auditing: Your CPE must include eight hours of accounting and auditing CPE courses.
- Behavioral subjects: You can earn up to 20 hours of CPE in behavioral subjects, such as topics in personal or professional growth like management or communications.
Renewing your Florida CPA license
All CPAs must meet their Florida CPA CPE requirements by June 30th every other year and renew their license by December 31st of that same year.

Tips to meet your Florida CPE requirements
While meeting your CPE requirements may feel like just another task on your to-do list, these tips can help make it stress-free.
Find CPE that suits your schedule
You’re a busy professional with a lot on your plate. If you find yourself struggling to find the time to complete your CPE courses, consider a more flexible format. On-demand CPE courses allow you to watch and learn whenever it’s convenient for you, whether it’s on your lunch break or after you’ve put the kids to bed.
If you prefer to learn on the go, you can stream CPE podcasts whenever and wherever you are, from Becker’s website, Apple podcasts, or Spotify. Then, log in to your Becker LMS platform to take a short quiz and earn CPE credit. Whether you’re taking advantage of a long drive or listening during your deep cleaning, use podcasts to meet your CPE requirements in no time!
Keep up with your progress
Since you’re completing your Florida CPA CPE requirements over the course of two years, it can be difficult to keep track of how many hours you’ve done, when your hours are due, and if you’ve met the more specific subject requirements. Using Becker’s CPE Compliance Tracker makes it easy to see what you’ve earned, even from other platforms, and what you have left to complete. You’ll even get recommendations for courses to meet your requirements.
Block out time each month
Instead of waiting to start earning your 80 hours of CPE until March of the year of its due, we recommend spacing out your learning over the two-year renewal period. Avoid scrambling at the last minute to meet your requirements before deadline. Instead, plan four to six hours each month for CPE—this will give you a cushion in case you get behind during busy season—and you won’t get overwhelmed.
Consider what you want to learn
Meeting your CPA CPE requirements isn’t just a task that you’re forced to complete—it’s a chance to advance your knowledge and your career! CPE helps you learn new skills and focus on the areas that are of most interest to you. If you want to transition between areas like audit or tax or specialize in a niche area like management or forensic accounting, you can take CPE courses that help you learn more about these specializations. Equipped with this advanced knowledge, you can advance toward working in the positions that most inspire you.
Define your career goals and find CPE courses that help take you there!
