CPA Bound 2.0

Becker and the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA, Inc.) have partnered since 2022 to offer CPA Bound 2.0, a hands-on support program for professionals on the journey toward CPA licensure.

About NABA, Inc.

NABA, Inc is a nonprofit membership association that works to raise up current and future Black Business Leaders in accounting, finance, business, and entrepreneurship. Since its inception in 1969, the organization has provided education, resources, and meaningful career connections to support more Black professionals in their fields.1

What is CPA Bound 2.0?

CPA Bound began as a collaboration between Becker and NABA to support NABA’s rising CPA candidates—solidifying into a more structured program in 2022 with the launch of CPA Bound 2.0.

The partnership has a single goal: to help candidates achieve success on the CPA Exam and beyond by providing them access to support, community, and resources. The program brings together annual cohorts of CPA candidates in all stages of their CPA journeys, networking to provide them with more resources, encouragement, and motivation to continue climbing.

Strategy

CPA Bound 2.0 participants are nearly all non-traditional candidates beyond their student years and already working in a professional capacity. Becker National Sales Manager and CPA Bound 2.0 Liaison, Sharice Jessup, shares the program’s emphasis on creating and strengthening a network that helps these professionals overcome the obstacles inevitable to their exam preparation:

“CPA Bound 2.0 takes a hands-on approach to supporting those on the journey, helping them stay plugged in, stay engaged, ask questions, and be involved to see better success.”

She names the program’s intentional engagement activities, which include:

  • Social groups uniting those preparing for the same exam sections
  • Regular virtual video check-ins with Becker instructors
  • Bi-monthly webinars
  • Accountability study groups
  • Guest speaker events and NABA member networking
  • Check-ins and engagement activities
  • Celebration events for individual and cohort wins
  • Free exam resources, study plans, and information
  • Discounted Becker study materials
  • 25 Becker CPA Exam Review scholarships for cohort members

These activities all work to create strong community relationships that foster accountability, direction, and motivation. Plus, the resources offered through CPA Bound 2.0 provide cohorts with essential access to knowledge and tools that lead to greater success.

CPA Bound 2.0 process and enrollment

Each year after NABA’s fall regional conferences, the organization sends its members an invitation to join CPA Bound 2.0. The only prerequisite is NABA membership.

Candidates must apply and then begin the first meetings organizing their study groups and initiating their engagement journey. They commit to a year of participation, but are welcome to continue their journey with CPA Bound 2.0 until licensure.

CPA Bound 2.0 success

CPA Bound 2.0 has grown significantly in its number of participants since 2022. The growth pays testament to the program and its ability to provide effective support that these professionals are seeking.

Over the past year, multiple participants passed at least one of their CPA Exam sections, or achieved full licensure.

CPA Bound 2.0 celebrates the success of its members!
