Accounting Dictionary

Financial Risk

Financial risk includes the risk of having financial resources lost, wasted, or stolen. For example, an inventory report lists several laptop computers, but some of the laptops were not returned when employees left the organization. This problem could lead to inaccurate financial reports that are reporting assets that no longer exist. See also information risk and operating risk.
