Becker's news from NABA

Becker is not only committed to growing the profession but also supporting diversity to bring people from a wealth of backgrounds and experiences into the profession. That's why we are so proud to partner with amazing organizations like the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA). NABA is an association of finance and accounting professionals committed to closing the gap of wealth and opportunities for Black students, business leaders, and professionals.1 

Each year, NABA hosts a national convention and expo. Nikki Watson, Becker's Director of Sales, Corporate Channel, and DEI Strategic Initiatives, says this to summarize the event:

"The Annual NABA Conference is a week where Sr. leaders, influencers, and powerbrokers convene to celebrate Black Excellence in the accounting industry. The conference is filled with activities and events to educate aspiring CPAs, congratulate newly licensed CPAs, and inspire other scholars and students. There are ample opportunities to network, engage in dialogue that elevates the profession, and attend workshops to learn, upskill, and develop in your career."

This year, Insight 2024 FLOW convention took place in Las Vegas from June 17-21, 2024. 

Insight 2024 FLOW 

This year’s NABA convention featured speakers, visionaries, and Black business leaders that have changed their industries—and inspire continued transformation. People like Viola Davis, Bebe Winans, Mike Ellison, and more were all present to share their insights. 

There was also a festive welcome reception, celebration of scholars and awards, Juneteenth celebration, and numerous speakers from the accounting profession and beyond.

Becker was present at the Insight 2024 FLOW convention as a Sapphire Sponsor. We were the only CPA Exam Review provider present at the expo, and also a co-sponsor for the Celebration of Scholars Luncheon. 

Becker's presence at Insight 2024 FLOW included:

  • Networking and informational booth: A group of Becker staff and three of our National Instructors, Mike Brown, Mike Potenza, and Kelly Richmond Pope, were all present to answer questions and inspire students on their CPA journeys.
  • CPA Exam Review workshop: More than 100 students attended the CPA Exam Review session to learn about prepping to pass the CPA Exam. The standing-room-only event was so packed that fire marshals had to turn away additional attendees! 
  • CPE workshop, "Be Your Own Boss": Both Mike Brown and Kelly Richmond Pope co-presented at the CPE workshop to a full room of over 50 attendees. 

Becker is enormously proud to have been a part of the NABA 2024 convention and expo, as we continue to grow and nurture our partnership with organizations that inspire growth and equity in the profession!
